BOSS Is A Showcase Of Akshay Kumar, The Entertainer

Box Office Rating:
4/5

Critics Rating:
3.5/5

Akshay Kumar misfired with OUATIMD in is last outing. Couple of films like 'Special Chabbis' and 'Khiladi 786' also failed to ignite box office unlike 'Rowdy Rathore'. On top of that 'Boss' director Anthony D' Souza had delivered disaster 'Blue' few years back starring Akshay only.

'Boss' is a remake of south hit film but that does not guarantee an exceptional storyline. That is the case with the film. It has a wafer thin plot, a father (Mithun) and his two sons (Akshay & Shiv) - one righteous and one gunda! Cop Ayushman Thakur ( Ronit Roy) is after Boss (Akshay Kumar) because his brother Shiv wants to marry cop's sister Ankita (Aditi Rao) On top of that add Tau (Danny) played guru of Boss and cameo friendly Sonakshi SInah in two songs and you have real repetitive plot.

But then the big question is, does film work? Yes, for me Akshay shoulders mammoth responsibility of carrying such a big enterprise with his charisma and complete package. He looks dashing and his action with some real seeti worthy dialogues simply blow you away. Watch out for chase sequence in 2nd half and comic fight at dargah! No script and average direction fail to impact him in this entertaining enterprise.

All other members of the cast - Aditi Rao, Shiv Pandit, Danny Denzongapa, Parikshit Sahni, Johnny Lever and Mithun just sleepwalk but yes Ronit Roy again look lethal as a baddie cop and enlights every combat against Akshay. Music is big plus as one chartbuster after another keep you hooked. Watch out for 'Hum Na Tode' and 'Party All Night' in 2nd half, mesmerizing!

Sajid - Farhad dialogues are another plus and lift the film few notch. Editing is sleek but camerawork is strictly decent. But its the director Anthony who again fail to justify the product though star Akshay came as savior to save him blues (pun intended) this time around.

Film will take a thunderous opening tomorrow and 5 day holiday boosted weekend will give it good numbers. But the real test will star on Monday and it seems that film will pass it with good enough result.

Go for Akshay Kumar the complete package and you will not be disappointed!

Salman Takes A Dig At Ranbir’s 'BESHARAM'

Tuesday, Oct 15 2013, 08:00 PM

Salman is known to be upfront and one of the most bindass actors in Bollywood. Salman has been spotted in a jolly mood while shooting for ‘Bigg Boss’. After taking a dig at some of his contemporaries, seems like Sallu’s latest target is Ranbir Kapoor.

Salman refers to the Kapoor kid as ‘Woh naya ladka…” The parts were not telecasted where Salman took a dig at Ranbir’s latest release ‘Besharam’ and its debacle.

During a casual exchange of banter with guests on the show, Jaaved Jaaferi and Sharman Joshi Salman got some reason to unleash his witty side. There were comparison and discussions with others films. It provoked Salman to comment, “Abhi Beshram release hui, usko bhi 1.5 stars mila and after box office collections (were made public), critics decided to deduct that one star as well.”

The official spokesperson of the channel rubbished the news.

Rohit Shetty Has Not Signed Imran Khan & Shraddha Kapoor For Tamil Film Remake

Tuesday, Oct 15 2013, 07:00 PM

Rohit Shetty will start working on the remake of the Tamil film ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ only after his other films are completed. It is likely that this will be a 2016 release and hence the filmmaker is not keen to speak of this crime thriller.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi played the lead in “Soodhu Kavvum" which is a story of four misfit kidnappers. The film will also be remade in Malayalam soon.

It is too early for Rohit to think about the casting for the movie. News that Imran Khan and Shraddha Kapoor would be in Bollywood remake is false.

Also, contrary to what was reported earlier, Rohit has rights of the film and his lawyers have issued a notice saying that he has the exclusive rights and has no partners for this film. Also Rohit himself will be directing the film.

Dhawan is already working under production house, Balaji Motion Pictures for their next release ‘Main Tera Hero’. So he should be comfortable working with the team.

Apparently, before Shahid Kapoor, Imran Khan too exited from the project after the dismal response to Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara’.

Director Anand L Rai is thrilled with the success of his last film, ‘Ranjhanaa’. After the success of the film at box office, the director is coming up with another romantic film and is currently working on its script.

'Raanjhanaa' was a story of a Hindu Banarasi boy (Dhanush) falling in love with a Muslim girl (Sonam) and giving away his life for her.

Talking about this forthcoming project Rai elaborates, "I am working on a script right now. It's a romantic film but I cannot reveal the plot line and story. I think somewhere people have lost faith in love. It feels sad (to) see this as love is an integral part of our life," he said.

Sajid Nadiadwala is going through a tough phase on the health front. Apparently, Sajid is nursing a back injury. Sajid injured his back recently while going overboard at one of his gym training session, which is causing him trouble to even walk or drive.

Sajid revealed that he injured his back because of his gym workout schedule and has been advised complete bed rest by the doctors for a period of 14 days.

The workaholic director showed his sense of dedication towards his upcoming film ‘Kick’ (starring Salman Khan) by travelling from his Andheri residence to Karjat based sets, in a vanity van instead of a car, in order to reduce the pain.
